C/WMARS INTERNET POLICY
The C/W MARS network is a multitype automated library consortium that facilitates efficient resource sharing and rapid access to information for users of its member libraries through the provision of high quality computer and support services.
C/W MARS provides information services, including access to the Internet, to meet the needs of its member library patrons. The Internet offers a wealth of information that enables libraries to augment library materials. While much of the information on the Internet is professionally and culturally enriching, there may be material that is offensive to some individuals, or that may be illegal. C/W MARS assumes no responsibility for Internet content, including information that may be inaccurate or out-of-date.
C/W MARS endorses the ALA Library Bill of Rights, its interpretations, and in particular Access to Electronic Information, Services and Networks. C/W MARS does not control or monitor material available on the Internet. Parents and guardians, not the member libraries or their staff, are responsible for information accessed by their children. For those individuals who want more control for themselves or their own children, further information is available on the C/W MARS homepage under internet safety
C/W MARS member library patrons and staff must follow the policies of this Network and its Internet Service Provider, the University of Massachusetts University Information Systems. Prohibited use includes:
Using the Internet for illegal purposes
Using the Internet in violation of the Massachusetts General Law 272 Section 31, the Harmful to Minors statute.
Unauthorized copying of copyright-protected material in any format
Transmission of chain mail, broadcast letters, or junk mail of any type
Transmission of threatening, harassing, defamatory or obscene materials
Unauthorized access to remote computer systems
Each member library is responsible for informing its patrons of prohibited uses and reporting any violations of this policy to the C/W MARS Executive Director. If the member library believes criminal activity has occurred, the local authorities should also be notified. In the event that any of the prohibited activities occur, C/W MARS may suspend or terminate Internet access to that library until such time that the library implements procedures to stop this activity. Whenever practical, C/W MARS will provide the library advance notice and an opportunity to address the problem.
C/W MARS does not provide individual e-mail accounts to library users.
Individual C/W MARS libraries may have local Internet policies that may apply in addition to this policy.
C/W MARS is committed to the protection of patron privacy in their use of the Internet. See the  Privacy Policy

Reserves, Renewals and My Reading History

Placing an Online Reserve Request
Did you find something you wanted in the catalog, but it's not on the shelf? Or the Bushnell-Sage Library doesn't own it, but another library has a copy of the item you want? You can request materials online to be delivered to the Bushnell-Sage Library for you.
To place a request:
Search the Library Catalog to identify the item(s) you want.
If you get a list of titles, click on view full record or on the title of the one you want. When the individual item record displays, click on the REQUEST button near the top of the screen.
Enter your library card number and PIN at the prompts, and choose a pickup location (where you would like the item delivered) from the drop-down menu. Then click SUBMIT.
To place several holds in one search session, it's easiest to log in to your account first. Once logged in, click Search the Catalog. When you browse the catalog while logged in, you do not have to enter your library card number and PIN for each item you request.
The Library will notify you when the item is ready to be picked up. We find the reserve system averages 2 weeks to fill a request.
Questions? Ask at the Circulation Desk or call us at 413-229-7004 during regular library hours.

Renewing Library Items online
Go to the Library Catalog and click the "Log In" button at the bottom of the screen.
Enter your name, library card number, and PIN (Personal Identification Number). If this is the first time you've accessed your account, follow the directions to create a PIN before continuing. Then click "Display record ..."
When your record appears, click "View Checked Out Items." The list of titles will appear in a window at the bottom of the screen. (Note, the list shows items from all C/WMARS libraries, not just the Bushnell-Sage.)
You can then click "Renew All," or click in the box beside each item and then click "Renew Selected Items." Warning: Don't click directly on the titles or it will display the catalog instead.
The "Status" column will now display the new due dates. It will also indicate if any items can't be renewed, and the reason.
Reasons for not renewing a title include:
You have already renewed the item once.
Another patron has reserved the item.
Your card has been blocked due to an accumulation of fines.
The item is already overdue and has accumulated fines (You can still call us to renew overdue items so that you don't continue to accrue more fines)
Questions? Call us at 413-229-7004

My Reading History
Want to be able to look back on what you've read or checked out in the past? Track your circulation history by maintaining an online Reading List. This option is strictly voluntary; if you don't choose to maintain a Reading List, there will be no record of your borrowed items.
This list is confidential and is only accessible by you.
To start your Reading List, from the library’s website,
Go to the Library Catalog and click the "Log In" button at the bottom of the screen.
Log-in or create an account
Click on "My Reading History"
Click on "CLICK HERE to turn on My Reading History"
After you opt in, any item that you check out will be included in your Reading List when you return it.
You can delete any item from this list by
Checking the box under the column "Mark" for the title you want to delete
Click "Delete Marked" or "Delete All" to remove all titles in your list
You can discontinue using the Reading History feature any time you choose. Before opting out, you must “Delete All” from your Reading History.

1.      Shoes and shirts must be worn.
2.      Eating, drinking, smoking, and loitering are not permitted.

4.      Staff is not responsible for personal belongings left unattended.
5.      Solicitation is prohibited.
6.      Anyone who vandalizes library property will be punished to the fullest extent permitted by law.
7.      The library staff reserves the right to ask patrons to leave if they are disruptive.
In order to serve the interests of our users, and to preserve a place of
learning that respects the rights of others, the Bushnell-Sage Library restricts

Program/Meeting Room Policy

References:  American Library Association, Library Bill of Rights and Interpretations:  Meeting Rooms.

Statement of policy:  The Bushnell-Sage Library provides meeting space for Library programs and for other meetings and programs of an informational, educational, cultural, or civic nature, subject to this policy as established by the Library Board of Trustees.  The meeting room is intended primarily for use of Library programs.  Use of the facility by other groups is allowed when not needed by the Library.

The Library Board specifically excludes the following types of uses of its program/meeting room:

Political campaigns, although bi-partisan political forums are permitted.

Programs not in keeping with the Library’s goals and objectives, or programs that would interfere with the Library’s operation by causing excessive noise, safety hazards, security risks, or might be injurious to Library property.

 Reservations:

There are no restrictions on the scheduling of Library and Library-related events and programs.  Library sponsored functions have priority.

Groups are accommodated as space is available.  All groups using the room must have a Sheffield resident as the contact person.

Fees and Admission Charges:

No fees are charged for the use of the program/meeting room.  Donations are requested for the Friends of the Library.

Groups using the room may not charge admission.  Exceptions may be made for an educational program or course that requires a registration fee or tuition.

Use:

The meeting room cannot serve as a permanent or regular meeting location for any non-Library group.  To insure fair access to the facility for all groups, non-library groups may request scheduling for 4 consecutive meetings with an option to renew.

Permission for use of the Library meeting room does not imply library endorsement of the views, opinions, policies, or activities of groups or organizations using the Library facility.  And no user shall be permitted to take any action that might suggest the contrary.

Permission to use the meeting room is revocable and does not constitute a lease.  The Library reserves the right to cancel and/or reschedule any meeting by giving at least 2 weeks advance notice before the meeting.

Additional Considerations:

The Board of Library Trustees reserves the right to refuse to book meeting room space for groups that do not comply with these guidelines.

All groups using the room assume full responsibility for any damage to Library property incurred in the room during the meeting, or in connection with the meeting.

The Library is not responsible for personal belongings of or injuries to users of the room and their guests.

Use of tobacco products and alcoholic beverages (unless special permission is obtained) are not permitted on the Library’s premises.

The Library does not provide storage space for groups or individuals using the meeting room.

No mounting of materials is permitted on the walls or windows of the meeting room, except with the permission of the Library Director.

Kitchen facilities, including refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers and sinks are available.  Groups need to bring all other supplies.  Groups serving refreshments must clean and wash all Library appliances, and remove all left over food and beverages as well as garbage.

Groups are responsible for leaving the room and kitchen area (if used) in a clean, neat and orderly condition.

The Board of Trustees will review the Meeting/Program Room policy and regulations periodically and reserves the right to amend the policy at any time.
