A World of International Literature: Bringing Foreign Fiction Home, Mitja Orthofer
 
Mitja Orthofer, reviewing books and expounding on the international literary scene at the Complete Review (www.complete-review.com) and its Literary Saloon blog since 1999, talks about contemporary fiction from around the world and the resources that are bringing it closer to home.
  
With some 2800 titles under review and a focus on international fiction and fiction in translation, the Complete Review is a leading Internet book review site.  The New York Times Book Review has called it: "one of the best literary destinations on the Web", and it was named one of Time's 50 Coolest Websites in 2005. Founder Mitja Orthofer’s essays and reviews have also appeared in publications ranging from Le Monde to World Literature Today. He also serves as a judge for the annual Best Translated Book Award, as well as the Austrian Cultural Forum’s ACF Translation Prize. His A Reader's Guide to Contemporary World Fiction is forthcoming from Columbia University Press.

Now's your chance! Please join us for our weekly 'Sit & Knit' Club.
It meets every Wednesday evening at the Bushnell-Sage Library in Sheffield from 6 - 8 pm.

BOOK CLUB for Children 9-12 years old
Do you know what Reading x 2=?  That’s simple, more learning; more laughs; more fun!  If you’d like to ‘multiply’ your joy in reading, a book club might be just the thing you’re looking for.  A new book club for children aged 9-12 will be held at the Sheffield Library during the  months of November and December, every other Thursday, after school, from 3:00 – 400.  We plan to begin November 3rd with our first book; “The Penderwicks:  A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy” by Jeanne Birdsall.  Try something new – read a book with friends!  For information or questions please contact the Sheffield Library at 413-229-7004.  

BEGINNING YOGA WITH LISA
Feeling stressed? Why not try our yoga classes on Tuesday evenings at the Bushnell-Sage Library in Sheffield.
Classes start at 6:00 - 7:00 pm. for basic yoga flow and at 7:00 - 7:30 pm. is a
breathing /meditation class. Try one or stay for both.
